Building the Region

The Rocky Mountain Cascade Regional Officers have set a few goals for the 2009-2010 year. These goals are all designed to increase chapter membership, improve communication between headquarters and the chapters, and build the region. A few of the officer's goals are:

-Produce a quarterly newsletter containing highlights from chapter activities and notices of upcoming events.

-Develop connections between the regional officers and the chapter members. The officers hope that each chapter would designate a regional liaison who would relate information between the chapter and the region.

-Visit at least ten chapters by the end of 2009.

-Encourage chapters to meet pinnacle level by displaying each chapter's status on the regional web site.

-Double membership within the region.

The regional officer team has also created these goals for the remainder of 2009:

1) Encourage each chapter to research their history as part of a regional Honors in Action project: When was the chapter chartered? Who were the chartering members and where are they now? Chapter members are encouraged to connect with alumni to learn about their experiences in college and since leaving the college environment.

Chapters will be encouraged to present historical displays during the Phi Theta Kappa week in November. Information gathered will be posted on the regional web site in order to create a history of the region.

2) Charter a regional alumni association. This is connected with the first goal since as the chapters research their histories, they will meet alumni who may be willing to help charter the alumni association. The requirement for chartering is 15 members, and 10 of those must have left the community college more than 5 years ago. There is also a $200 chartering fee.

The District Executive Officers are responsible for specific college chapters. Please refer to the regional website (www.rmcptk.org/officers.htm) to contact your chapter's designated representative.
